Ford Motor Company recently revealed that it is creating seven new electrified vehicles, including F-150 Hybrid and Mustang Hybrid models for the US market and a Transit Custom plug-in hybrid for European customers, within the next five years. In addition to those three models, Ford will also develop a fully-electric SUV that offers an estimated range of 300 miles as well as two new electrified police vehicles.
Ford anticipates investing $4.5 billion in electric vehicles by the year 2020 as part of the company’s efforts to deliver new mobility solutions and becoming a leader in electrified and autonomous vehicles.Ford’s new EV push adds electrified F-150, Mustang, Transit Custom & all-electric small SUV by 2020; fully autonomous hybrid coming 2021. pic.twitter.com/7oo3Fq70F8

The seven global electrified vehicles that were announced are:
- A F-150 Hybrid that will be sold in North America and the Middle East and will be able to function as a mobile generation.
- An entirely-new, fully-electric small SUV, to be built in the US and sold in North America, Asia and Europe.
- A hybrid Mustang that will deliver even more low-end torque and full V8 power.
- An autonomous vehicle that is meant for high-volume use by the commercial ride-sharing and ride hailing industries, to be built at Ford’s Flat Rock, Michigan plant.
- Two new hybrid police vehicles that will still be pursuit-rated.
- A Transit Custom plug-in hybrid that intended to be in Europe.
In order to improve performance and fuel economy, these new vehicles will be powered by EcoBoost® instead of naturally-aspirated engines.
