Did you know there may be spiders nesting in your car engine right now?

It's probably not a good idea to tell you that. Studies have shown even mentioning spiders to a person behind the wheel can increase driving errors, because of the panic-inducing arachnophobia.

Read on with caution.

The problem-critter is less than half an inch long at its largest, and spins its tubular webs in the corners of homes, under leaves in your garden, and yes, inside your car. It's called the yellow sac spider, and it is pretty much everywhere in the United States. That includes Burkburnett, TX.

Because the yellow sac spider is so tiny, and likes nesting in crevices, small engine components like the fuel vapor line look like appealing retreats for it to spin a web in.

Clogs caused by this web-building behavior have been the cause of several recalls for other car brands.

Fear not, though! New Ford vehicles are outfitted with a patented "spider screen" that keeps the creepy-crawlers from getting into your fuel lines. Visit Pruitt Ford to find refreshingly spider-free engines.
